Jack Leroy Vanderpool Sr., age 63, passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He passed to the other side knowing he was well loved.
Jack served in the United States Army from January 1972 to December 1974, during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea), Expert Grenade Badge and Expert Rifle Badge. He was a lifelong die hard Chiefs fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Shirley Vanderpool.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy Vanderpool; sons, Jack Vanderpool Jr, Fred Vanderpool (Jenny), (big) Josh Vanderpool (Dorthy) and Kelly Culley (Tamara); former wife, Beth Vanderpool and children, Abby Haggerty (Jason), Sarah Hardekopf (Jeff), Jeremy Belback, (little) Josh Vanderpool and Jadyn Vanderpool; 21 grandchildren: Michaela (Justin), Dylan (Chantel), Makenzie, Mikenah, Ashley (Jake), Holly, Jacquelyn, Shelby, Maddison, Jordyn, Michael, Angel, Kaitlin, Faith, Bobbijo, Tasha, Ryan, Olivia, Blake, Brooke and Kinnick; 2 great grandchildren, Spencer and Ayden; brothers, Bill Vanderpool (Janie), Butch Vanderpool and Randy Vanderpool; as well as several nieces and nephews.
