Jack Howard Schultz, age 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sept. 10, 2024. Jack was born on January 4, 1934 to Howard and Juanita (Davis) Schultz in Council Bluffs, IA. He married Barbara Morris on May 4, 1968. Upon graduation of high school Jack enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1955-1964. After satisfying his enlistment requirement, he joined his father in over-the-road trucking. Shortly after, Jack shared a few beverages with a military recruit, where the conversation led to a reenlistment discussion. If he could keep his E4 rank, he would do it! Jack spent the next 11 years serving in the Army (1964 to 1975) including 3 tours in Vietnam. After retiring from the Army, he moved his family to Persia, Iowa, where they spent the next 20 years raising their four children. After retirement, Jack and Barb moved to Council Bluffs where they lived for the next 10 years followed by their final move in 2020, which took them to Harris, MN, to be near family. Jack enjoyed fishing, woodworking, vegetable gardening, a good western, and a cold Hamm's beer. His favorite pastime was visiting with people.
Jack is survived by his sister, Pat Stephens, his four children Randy (Kristi) of Chariton, IA, Rodney (Esther) of Harris, MN , Juanita (Doug) Butler of Monroe, WI, and Jodi (Ray Kieser) of Crofton, NE, his 17 grandchildren, and his 5 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, his parents, Howard and Juanita, his sister and brother-in-law Mary and Mark Walt, and his brothers-in-law, Bob Stephens and Larkin Lovette.
Special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Ecumen North Branch Memory Care and Hospice Unit for the wonderful love and care they gave Jack.
