James E. Maack, age 99, passed away December 26, 2016 at Northcrest Living Center.
He was born in Omaha, Nebraska on May 3, 1917 to the late Ed Maack and Josephine (Collins) Maack. Jim worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a boilermaker and welder for 38 years and was very active in the train program at the Henry Doorly Zoo.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Maack; daughter, Kay Hayes; grandson, Mark Maack.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lillian Maack. They celebrated 75 years of marriage on December 13th of this year. Jim is also survived his children, Janet Petersen and her husband Terry, Robert Maack and his wife Cinthyan; grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; and special niece, Mary Ann Semin and her husband Harold.
Visitation is 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 10:00 a.m., on Friday, at the funeral home. Interment is in the Garner Township Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
