James F. (Jim) Dolezal M.D. was born in 1938 in San Francisco, California. He grew up in San Jose, California and Reno, Nevada. James graduated from Anchorage High school in Anchorage, Alaska in 1955. James attended Creighton University School of Pharmacy in Omaha, Nebraska and graduated in 1959.
James owned two drug stores in the San Jose, California area from 1959 to 1969. James attended medical school at Creighton University School of Medicine graduating in 1973. After graduation James completed his residency in Dermatology at the University of Iowa from 1973 to 1977.
James owned medical practices in Omaha, Nebraska as well as Council Bluffs, Iowa from 1977 to 2008. James also practiced Dermatology in Minden and Reno, Nevada from 2008 to 2017. While James lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa, he founded Delasco: Dermatologic Lab and Supply Company.
James had such a love for flying; he owned several of his own private planes, including his beloved AirCam that he built himself in his shop at home. Over many occasions, James flew the AirCam over the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Lake Tahoe, and even the Grand Canyon Parks in Utah and Arizona. James loved to travel with Sherry and they traveled throughout the world. James grew up the oldest of three children alongside his brother, Edwin and his sister Joan.
James is survived by his wife, Sherry Dolezal and her three children, Matthew Vincent (Alicia), Riki Vincent and Tyler Heath (for whom he raised since age two). James is also survived by his six children, Pamela Kottemann (Brent), Jeffrey Dolezal (Kathy), Maryann Kulp, Mike Dolezal (Joan), Pete Dolezal (Karen) and Debbie Grafelman (Paul); 21 grandchildren, Brooke Hill (Ben), Blake Kottemann, Lisa Lewis (Dave), Luke Kottemann, Jessica Petchenick (Brett), Stephanie Dolezal, Tyler Kulp, Erik Kulp, Zach Dolezal, Nate Dolezal, Kelsi Dolezal, Rebecca Dolezal, James Dolezal M.D. (Cathy), Jennifer Steckenrider (Josiah), Karl Grafelman, Heidi Grafelman, Savanna Vincent, Silvia Vincent, Ryden Vincent, Brycen Vincent, and Maddison Vincent; 3 great-grandchildren, Reese Hill, Ethan Hill, and Ruby Lewis; mother-in-law, Yvonne May; brothers-in-law, Lee May and Wayne May; many nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.
Memorial Service is 2:00 p.m. on January 11, 2019 at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home, 1221 N. 16th St., Council Bluffs, Iowa. Family will direct memorials.
