James Knudsen

James L. Knudsen, age 81, passed away peacefully at his home on September 9, 2024.

He was born March 19, 1943, to the late Alyce Rose Jessen in Council Bluffs, IA. Jim attended elementary and high school in Council Bluffs and proudly served in the National Guard. He was a self-employed painting contractor for many years. 

He loved every minute of the time he spent with his granddaughters washing & waxing their cars, checking their tires, or repainting their rooms for the 100th time. They brought him so much joy. His favorite hobby was restoring and showing his antique cars. He was a member of The River City Kruisers Car Club for a number of years and remained friends with all of them. 

He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father Raymond Myers and his beloved daughter, Jennifer Bergsten. 

Jim is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sheila Knudsen; brother and sister-in-law, Terry & Kay Myers; son-in-law, Ben (Piera) Bergsten; three beautiful granddaughters, Abby (Jacob) Barents, Ally Bergsten, and Avary Bergsten; bonus family in Texas, nieces, nephews, and cousins; a host of other family and friends. 

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Saturday, September 28, 2024.

Memorial Service will be at held at 2:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Saturday, September 28, 2024. The family will direct memorials.
