James W. Ring

James W. Ring, age 84, of Council Bluffs passed away at his home on October 16, 2013. He was born in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska on April 17, 1929 to the late William and Hilda (Stadler) Ring. Jim retired from the Iowa Department of Transportation. Jim had a passion for horses and was a proud member of the Pony Express Riders of Iowa. He also had membership in both the Pottawattamie and Mills County Saddle Clubs. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Jacolyn Gundlach; sister, Mary Madlyn Ring. Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen Ring; sons and daughters-in-law, Roger & Nancy Ring and Mark & Kim Ring; daughters and sons-in-law, Kim & Tim Hewett and Linda & Kim Curry; sisters, Patricia Neville and Helen Tamasia; son-in-law, Bill Gundlach; grandchildren, Makayla Ring, Andrew Ring, Mike Hewett, Kelli Baumbach (Jeromy), Austin Ring (Amber), Mandy Campbell (Chris), Jason Gundlach (Missy), Jill Roff (Jacob); great grandchildren, Alli, Dylan, Lucas, Tyler, Reese, Brooklyn; a host of other family and friends. Visitation is Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A reception will follow the service in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Carson, Iowa Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
