Janet K. Otto, age 77, of Council Bluffs passed away April 13, 2017 at Risen Son Christian Village.
She was born in Council Bluffs on November 12, 1939 to the late Russell M. and Martha K. (Norgaard) Spencer. On November 8, 1958 she was united in marriage to Robert W. Otto.
Kay attended grade school at Boomer #8 of rural Honey Creek and graduated from Beebeetown High School in 1957. She started working at Mutual of Omaha four days later and was there for 2 years. Kay worked for over 14 years at Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS). She worked 20 years at 1st National Bank and then for another 10 years at Cracker Barrel as a hostess. She loved traveling and made it to all 50 states by 1994.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Joseph N. Spencer; sister and brother-in-law, Carol L. and Gerald O. Ratashak.
Kay is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert W. Otto; daughter, Debra K. Newland (Chris); son, Robert L. Otto (Maria); grandchildren, Cory A. and Justin T. Newland, Krista K. Lewis (Damian), Cole S. Chance R. and Sage R. Otto; great grandchild, Ethan Lewis; sister, Joyce A. Eskelsen (Joel); sister-in-law, Ruth L. Laughlin (Richard); daughter-in-law, Sandi K. Otto; nieces, a nephew and a host of other family and friends.
Visitation is 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. on Monday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 10:00a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment is in the Grange Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
