Janith Mae Casey, age 75 of Council bluffs, Iowa, passed away in her home surrounded by her family Monday, October 21, 2013. She was born November 2, 1937, in West Point, Nebraska, to the late Gilbert and Marie (Buse) Ernesti As a young woman, she married John J. Casey at Aloys Catholic Church and moved to Columbus, Nebraska, and had two children (Lois and John). After 5 years, they moved to West Point, Nebraska, and had two additional children (Joan and Donna) and began building homes together. After completing more than 20 homes and managing a theater, they moved to Sidney, where they continued home remodeling and doing concrete work for Butler Building. After living in Sidney for five years, they moved to Fairbury, where they established an Ace Hardware named J & J Home and Hardware and continued to build homes. After 15 years, they moved the Ace Hardware store to Ogallala in 1991. They owned and operated the business for nine years, while continuing to build homes. In 2007, she moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa, after the death of her husband. She lived in Primrose Retirement Center since 2011. During her lifetime, she enjoyed needle work including quilting, puzzles, card clubs, and she especially enjoyed her time spent with her children, grand-children, and great grand-children. Janith is survived by her children, Lois Hanson (Derrel), John F. Casey (Linda), Joan Casey, Donna Busing (Kirk); siblings, Arlene Woerdemann (Robert), Gilbert Ernesti, Jr. (Kathy), Karen Schroeder, Verena Ridder (Robert), Marvin Ernesti (Gayleen); 7 Grandchildren, 7 Great-Grand Children and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband John J. Casey, parents and her sister, Julia Meister. A Prayer Service will be Friday at 3:00p.m, a Rosary Recitation will begin at 5:30p.m., followed by visitation until 8:00p.m. all at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10:00a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church followed by a luncheon. Interment will be in the Ogallala, Nebraska, Cemetery on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 10:00a.m. The family will direct memorials.
