Jaxson Eugene Dodson

Jaxson Eugene Dodson, 3 years old, went into the arms of our Lord in the comfort of his home, on November 30, 2015. At 9:10 in the evening, Jaxson took his last breath, while surrounded by the love and compassion of his entire family. Jaxson was born at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on February 17th, 2012. He led a life of medical ailments and struggles. His life may have been short, but his life held so much meaning. God sent him here to teach us how to love unconditionally and how to be courageous. Jaxson was the definition of strength, love, and bravery. He will forever be missed and his journey is a legacy that will go on in the hearts of many. Surviving are his parents, Cynthia Beverlin and Nick Merulla of Fairfield; grandparents, Christine (Munson) and James Merulla of Newton; grandparents, Angie (Moore) and Jeff Groshong of Ottumwa; father, Alexander Dodson of Bloomfield; grandparents, Kim (Bragg) and John Dodson of Bloomfield; numerous great grandparents, aunts and uncles, and cousins, all who loved him deeply. He was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Donna (Monahan) Moore; great great aunt Bonnie (Fowler) Turner; great aunt Dorothy (Monahan) Miller; and great great uncle Kory Bragg. All four who met Jaxson with open arms in heaven. He was also preceded in death by his friends Avery Kathleen Phillips, 7 months old, and Caleb Albrecht, 2 years old. Both welcomed Jaxson into heaven and are together without any medical limitations to hold them back. Visitation is Monday, December 7th, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m. followed by Jaxson's burial at Garner Township Cemetery. A reception is to follow in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski. The family will direct memorials in Jaxson's honor.
