Jean Lavonne Yeaton

Jean LaVonne Yeaton was born September 26, 1925 on a farm near Minden, Iowa to the late Jake and Lillian Luchsinger. She passed away September 29, 2015. Jean attended public high school in Minden for two years and then graduated from Shelby High School in 1943. She then entered the nurses training program at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. Jean also became a member of the Nurses Cadet Corps Program and graduated in 1946. She also received special training in obstetrics at the Lying Inn Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. After returning home, Jean worked at Jennie Edmundson Hospital for forty nine years. Many of those years were on the 3-11 shift and she was supervisor of the 11-7 shift. Jean greatly loved spending time with her family, especially at the family home in Lake Okoboji. Her family was her pride and joy. She was delighted in the accomplishments of each family member. Jean was married to Roland W. Yeaton in 1947, to this union three children were born: Todd, Jeff and Rhonda. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland; infant sister, Dorothy, brother, Stanley, sister, Lois Wendt. Jean is survived by her children: Todd Yeaton (Ruth) of Charles City, Iowa, Jeff Yeaton (Carol) of Underwood, Iowa, Rhonda Epperson (Keith) of Plymouth, Minnesota; brother, Bob Luchsinger of Chadron, Nebraska; grandchildren, Rachel Klein (Rich), Greg Yeaton, Katie Holcomb (Robert), Matt Yeaton (Katie), Andrew Epperson (Holly), Cole Epperson (Anna), Abby Epperson, and 7 great grandchildren; nieces, nephew and a host of other family and friends. Visitation is 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be later that afternoon in the Minden, Iowa Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Jennie Edmundson Foundation.
