Jeffrey C. Yeaton

Jeffrey Craig Yeaton was born on March 15th, 1952 to Roland and Jean Yeaton at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He attended Avenue B Grade School, Woodrow Wilson Junior High and proceeded to graduate from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1971. He worked for a short period at the Holiday Inn on 25th Street and afterwards for Snyder’s Furniture, upholstering furniture by hand for a few years before joining Cresline Plastic Pipe in 1978.

He met his wife, Carol Ann Torneten, in 1980 and they were married in 1981. Their daughter Katie Muree was born in 1983 and son Matthew Wayne in 1985. They moved to their rural home in the McClelland / Underwood area in December, 1987.

Jeff suffered a severe stroke on November 5th, 2017 and lost mobility of his left side and was wheelchair bound. On March 7th, 2018 he had surgery to remove a cancerous kidney. After a series of illnesses following, another stroke in November, and the return of cancer he entered into heaven December 5th, 2018. He worked 40 years at Cresline and achieved his long time goal of retiring in March of 2018 with full retirement benefits at the age of 66. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and grandparents.

He is survived by his wife Carol, daughter Katie Holcomb (Robert) and grandchildren Ethan and Samuel, his son Matthew (Mary) and grandchildren Leena and Maverick, his brother Todd Yeaton (Ruth), his sister Rhonda Epperson (Keith), and his many siblings-in-law, nieces, and nephews. He was a hardworking man and caretaker of his elders and parents. He was well thought of and had many friends, family, and co-workers. He enjoyed boating, swimming, and fishing in Okoboji. Jeff loved to spend his time with family and grandchildren.

Visitation is 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 11:00a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be later that afternoon in the Minden, Iowa Cemetery. The family will direct memorials.
