Jeffry Nelson

Jeffry "Jeff" Lynn Nelson, age 59, passed away January 30, 2024 at his home in Underwood, IA.

He was born May 14, 1964 to the late Dennis D. Nelson and Shirley M. (Baker) Potter. Jeff graduated from Tri-Center High School in Neola, with the Class of 1982. Jeff married Ronda Reese on February 14, 1984 at The Little Brown Church in the Vail, Nashua, Iowa and together they had 3 children, Michael, Amber, and Matthew.

He worked as a Manager for Skelly Gas Station; was a Mechanic for C&C Truck & Trailer Repair, and worked as a Farm Hand for GCL Farms LTD. Jeffry enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, Gun collecting, Oliver tractors, traveling, farming, horses, and spending time with his beloved Corgi, Margo. He enjoyed listening to Pink Floyd music, faithfully watching The Bold & Beautiful, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. Jeff was a devoted father to his three children and grandson. He always had a witty sense of humor and enjoyed making a crowd smile. Jeff had a heart of gold and often put everyone else before himself. His true happiness came from seeing others be happy. When he was around, it was always a good time. If you needed help with auto repairs, electrical, plumbing, drywall, handyman work of any kind, you could rely on Jeff to be there. Jeff was an all-around genuine person, great father, brother, uncle and friend. His smile and wit will be missed by all those who loved and had the pleasure of knowing him.

In addition to his parents, Jeff was preceded in death by brother, Kevin B. Nelson, grandparents, Bernard and Esther Nelson, and Bernard and Opal Baker.

He is survived by his children, Michael Nelson of Crescent, IA, Amber Nelson of Essex, IA, and Matthew Nelson of Omaha, NE; grandson, Mason Swisher of Harlan, IA; former spouse, Ronda (Reese) Nelson of Council Bluffs, IA; special friend, Sheila Roane of Neola, IA; grandfather, Mick Ring of Neola, IA; brothers, Steve (Tammy) Nelson of Neola, IA, David Nelson of Logan, IA, Mick Nelson of San Diego, CA, Jason (Jennifer) Nelson of North Bend, OR, Justin Nelson (Jessica) of Honey Creek, IA; sister, Ashley Reyes of Eugene, OR; aunts, Becky (Sam) Guarino of Beebeetown, IA and Shelly Willard of Logan, IA; 14 nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Sunday, February 4, 2024.
