Joan Bursik

Joan Bursik, age 81, passed away at Jennie Edmundson Hospital on March 12, 2024. She was born October 7, 1942 to Donald and Margaret (Anderson) Harding in Council Bluffs, IA. A proud graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School with the Class of 1960, Joan continued her education at Graceland College, where she earned her degree in education. Returning to Council Bluffs, she taught kindergarten students at Hoover School, leaving a lasting impact on young lives with her passion and dedication to education. Joan married George, the love of her life, on July 11, 1971 and the two were married for 38 years until his passing in 2009. She cherished her time with him, and they enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and traveling the country. Joan was a passionate gardener and shared the results of her green thumb with her friends and neighbors. Throughout the years, Joan found solace and strength in her faith as an active member of the Community of Christ Church and enjoyed making and sharing peanut brittle for the holidays. She was a proud member Kappa Kappa Iota Gamma Sorority sisterhood.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Bursik; brother, C. Warren Harding; and sister, Janet Harding. 

Joan is survived by her nephew, David Harding and his wife, Beth; and niece, Heidi Lundt and her husband, Jay; great niece, Kinser Lundt; and was truly blessed by many close friends that will miss her greatly.

Visitation is 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Hazel Dell Cemetery.
