John Charles Stuhr

John Charles Stuhr, age 88, of Minden, Iowa passed away on November 21, 2019.

He was born on September 4, 1931 to the late John and Opal (Voge) Stuhr in Minden. John attended country school at Valley View #8 and graduated from Minden High School in 1949. He farmed with his father until he joined the service in 1952. John spent most of his time in Germany during his time in the service as a company clerk in personnel. After his discharge in May of 1954, he returned to the family farm. He also worked for Melvin Luchsinger in the Mobil Oil Company and served as the Minden Cemetery Trustee for 20 years.

On June 17, 1966, John was united in marriage to Eileen Campbell. They farmed until their retirement. John’s favorite sport was baseball and his favorite team was the Chicago White Sox. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and during coffee time, he usually drank Dr. Pepper. He liked to dance and his favorite bands were Lawrence Welk and Guy Lombardo.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis (Bernard) Gross. He leaves to mourn, his wife, Eileen Stuhr; nieces, Cheri (Steve) Drawe and Rose (Lee) Bockelman; great nieces and nephews; great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 2, 2019 at the Minden United Church of Christ with a Memorial Service starting at 1:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at the Minden Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.
