June Blizzard

June Marie Blizzard passed away, with her family by her side, on Oct. 5, 2024 at the age of 92. June, the daughter of Frank Thomas and Mildred (Reason) Thomas, was born on July 16, 1932 in rural Taylor County, IA and was one of 10 children. She married Walter Edmund Blizzard on April 5, 1952 and they were blessed with two children, Michelle Marie and Walter Matthew.

June and Walter lived in several small towns in Iowa but eventually settled in Council Bluffs. June was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church for many years and continued to attend church services after moving to Assisted Living in Omaha. June loved flowers, gardening and, in her later years, enjoyed tending to her house plants and working on jigsaw puzzles but, what brought her the most joy, was being a loving mother and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband, Walt; her grandson, Isaac; and 5 sisters and 2 brothers.

June is survived by her daughter, Michelle Blizzard-Eichstadt and her husband, Ehren of Council Bluffs; son, Walter Matthew Blizzard and his wife, Celia of Omaha, NE; 3 grandchildren, Nathan, Breanna & Justin; brother, Clifford Thomas of Glenwood, IA; and sister, Dixie Steiber of Sydney, IA; and many other family members and friends. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her!

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM on Thursday, Oct. 10 with Funeral Services on Friday, Oct. 11 at 10:00 AM. All services will be held at Hoy-Kilonski Funeral Home in Council Bluffs. The family will direct memorials.
