Karen J. Brandenburg, age 84, passed away peacefully at CountryHouse Residence on January 6, 2025.
She was born October 3, 1940, to the late Raymond and Alvina (Laaker) Thompson in Council Bluffs, IA. Karen graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School and retired from Gordman's. She was a member of Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Brandenburg; brother, Larry Thompson.
Karen is survived by her children, Lisa Uhlenkamp, Rodney (Tia) Brandenburg, and Roger (Jill) Brandenburg; sister, Janice (Gene) Goodin; brother, Ron (Colleen) Thompson; sister-in-law, Mary Thompson; grandchildren; Jordan (Wil) West, Amanda (Steven) Gammell, Bailey (Josh) Sindelar, Brody Brandenburg, and Jackson Brandenburg; great grandchildren, Emersyn Gammell, Kade Gammell, Hank West, George West, and Zelma Sindelar; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Thursday, January 09, 2025. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM at Saint Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church on Friday, January 10, 2025. Memorials are suggested to Saint Paul's or the Alzheimer's Association Midwest Chapter.
