Kathryn “Kathy” Woodcock, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Pagosa Springs, Colo., on Wednesday, Aug. 22.
The family will celebrate Kathy’s life at a later date.
Kathy was born to Edwin Charles and Mary Todd Oliver Nieman in Wilson, Texas, on Dec. 29, 1931. She married Richard A. Woodcock on Nov. 29, 1947.
After starting their family in North Platte, Neb., Kathy and Richard lived in Missouri Valley for 29 years, then spent nearly 10 years full-time RVing. After losing Richard, Kathy lived 15 years in Council Bluffs before moving to Colorado with her daughter, Carol.
While in Missouri Valley, Kathy worked as an LPN for Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, for Dr. R.R. Maixner in Logan, and for Drs. R.X. Tamesia and R.G. Wilson in Missouri Valley.
Kathy is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard; brother, James Nieman; sister, Becky Mecklin; and grandsons, Jacob Woodcock, William Robinson, and Spencer Wright.
She is survived by her brother, Bobby (Tommie) Nieman; children, Nancy Detweiler, Jerry (Karen) Woodcock, Michael (Jeanette) Woodcock, Carol Wright, and Dixie (Rich) Bowen; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; plus many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Any donations may be made in Kathryn’s honor to your local hospice care service or the Alzheimer’s Association.
