Kent N. Nielsen

Kent N. Nielsen, age 91, of Council Bluffs passed away April 13, 2018 at CHI Mercy Hospital.

He was born in Neola, Iowa on May 16, 1926 to the late Niels and Henriette Nielsen. Kent graduated from Underwood High School. He worked for Safeway Foods and then retired from United Airlines. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Martha Peterson and Anita Lyngard; brother, Raymond Nielsen.

Kent is survived by his wife of 67 years, Una Mae Nielsen; children, Denise Petersen (Jerry), Lynette Knudsen (Daniel), Kevin Nielsen, Sheryl Harken (Richard); 13 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation is 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment is in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery – Boomer Township, Neola, Iowa. The family will direct memorials.
