L. Wes Jensen

It is with great sadness that the family of L. Wes Jensen announces his passing after a 3 year battle with cancer on Monday August 13, 2012 at the age of 59 years. Wes was born on June 15, 1953 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He graduated from Underwood Community High School in 1971. After graduation, Wes farmed in the Underwood area for ten years. He then became an employee of Mid-American Energy and retired after 25 years due to his illness. Wes will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 40 years, Cheryl and his children, Jeremy Jensen (Tricia) of Omaha, NE; Michelle Elkin (Justin) of Brandon, South Dakota; Lauralee Glunt (Michael) of Elizabethtown, PA; 9 grandchildren, Britny Maron, Kedryn Graham, Marshall Elkin, Colter Elkin, Brittan Elkin, Saddler Elkin, Lander Elkin, Paiton Glunt, Keyion Glunt; 1 great grandchild, Bryor Maron; parents, Lyle and Donna Jensen of Council Bluffs, IA; brother, Ronald Jensen of Council Bluffs, IA; mother-in-law, Jenny Hamilton of Avoca, IA; brothers-in-law, Robert Hamilton, John Hamilton (Kay), Ronald Hamilton (Rachel), Edwin Hamilton (Colleen); sisters-in-law, Cindy Knop (Scott), Lea Ann Van Horn as well as a host of other family and friends. Visitation is Tuesday 6-8PM at Salem United Methodist Church in Council Bluffs. Funeral service is Wednesday 10:30AM at the church. Interment will follow in the Lewis Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Salem United Methodist Church or the family will direct to a wrestling scholarship for area youth.
