Leda Sears

Leda Ellen (Hollins) Sears was born November 2, 1931, to Lloyd and Edna (Mann) Hollins in Malvern, Iowa. She attended school in Council Bluffs and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1950. On July 4, 1951, Leda met Harold Sears at the park in Logan, Iowa and they were married on January 6, 1952 at the Southside Christian Church. She was also one of the oldest members of the church. They were blessed with 4 children, Pam, Steve, Michael, and Judy. Leda babysat throughout the years. Leda was also a member of the West End Optimist Club and The Clodhopper Square Dance Club. 

Leda passed away peacefully on May 31, 2024 at Bethany Lutheran Home in Council Bluffs at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 29 days.

Leda was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Sears; grandson, Steven Sears; son, Michael Sears; sister, Verjean May. 

She is survived by daughters, Pam & Robert Cox of Council Bluffs, IA and Judy Melby & Tim Britt of Grantham, NC; son, Steve & Laurie Sears of Council Bluffs, IA; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Sears of Missouri Valley, IA; sister, Deaun Hansen of Council Bluffs, IA, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 04, 2024.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Southside Christian Church or the Council Bluffs Optimist Club.
