Lester C. "Bud" Whiteaker

Lester C. “Bud” Whiteaker, age 90, of Council Bluffs passed away July 23, 2017. He was born on July 20, 1927 in Oakland, IA to the late James and Maude (Eckert) Whiteaker. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII before his honorable discharge. Lester worked at Northwestern Bell for more than 35 years.

In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by sisters, LaVetta Hansen and Lorraine Welsch; grandson, Billy Jo Pratt; and son-in-law, Averial “Jim” Pratt.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Beverly Whiteaker; his children, Larry (Bonnie) Moore, Tommy Moore, Julie Pratt, Richard (Kimberly) Whiteaker, and Phillip (Pat) Whiteaker; grandchildren: Holly (Heath) Vinton, David (Jaclyn) Pratt, Richie Moore, Maddie (Brody) Tubaugh, Payton Whiteaker, and Paxton Whiteaker; 8 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

Visitation Thursday, 6-8 pm, at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Memorial service Friday, 1 pm, also at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials will be directed by the family.
