Letha Lu Solliday, age 75, of Council Bluffs, died August 29, 2016 at Risen Son Christian Village. Letha was born December 13, 1940 in Marshalltown Iowa. She attended school in Albion, IA and graduated from Modale High School. After attending the Midwestern School of Evangelism in Ottumwa, IA, she taught in Puerto Rico for several years. After graduating from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln, Nebraska, she moved to Council Bluffs where she taught 3rd and 4th grade at Roosevelt Elementary School for 30 years. After retirement she remained active in various ministries at First Christian church and enjoyed playing the piano and providing accompanying music for many performances. Letha was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Margaret (Spurgeon) Solliday. She is survived by sister, Mary Margaret Schaffner of Rock Port, MO; brothers, Horace Solliday of Tustin, CA; Harry Solliday of W. Des Moines, IA., and David Solliday of Columbia, South America: Special friend, Laura Fletcher of Council Bluffs; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral service will by 1:00 PM Saturday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home with visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Private interment. Memorials are preferred to Wings of Hope or First Christian Church.
