Lloyd M Shannon, 90, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, died Sunday, January 3, 2021 with his wife Joy at his side due to complications from many health problems.
He was born October 7, 1930 in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Dorothea (Heschke) Shannon; stepmother, Perle Shannon; and sister Marion Crawford. Lloyd was a Navy Veteran and worked for many years as a farmer, plumber, electrician, and building maintenance. Throughout his life, he lived in Storm Lake, Council Bluffs, Fairfield, Martell, Nebraska, and Arkansas. He recently moved back to Council Bluffs after spending his retirement years in Bella Vista, Arkansas with Joy.
While retired, Lloyd repaired lawn equipment for the community, built a small workshop on their property, and designed and built a rainwater reservoir system for their home. He never stopped moving and was very active until his illness last year. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, that will miss his love and unlimited support.
He is survived by his wife, Joy of 33 years; his daughters, Colleen (Gary) Barker, and Carla Hamilton, His stepson from his first marriage, Robert Harden and stepdaughters from his wife, Paula (Jim) Nock, Cheryl (Steve) Crandell, Denise (Jim) Hoag and Christine (Jim) Bever; grandchildren and great grandchildren.
For the past 15 years he had lived in Bella Vista, Arkansas with his wife and recently moved back to the Council Bluffs area.
Graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday January 7, 2021, in Memorial Park Cemetery.
