Lois E. Riche went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2018, just shy of her 92nd birthday. She was born August 21, 1926 to Julius and Pearl (Yochum) Ulfers. Lois and her husband, Stanley, who passed away in 1985, founded the Full Gospel Assembly Church (now known as Crossroads Church) in November 1966. She was the “perfect” pastor’s wife and their congregation always loved her so much and she will be dearly missed by them all.
Her family always thought she was a great cook, especially her rhubarb pie and potato salad. In her younger years, she was an avid reader. She loved to walk daily. She would wash and wax her car, clean the house and mow the grass all in one day. She had a work ethic that was second to none. She lived a long, happy life. She loved Jesus and her family.
Lois is preceded in death by her husband, Stanley; brothers, Leroy, Bob and Julius “Junior” Ulfers; sisters, Fern Andrews, Ileine Hansen and Karen Solt. She is also preceded in death by her son in law, Carl Nixon.
Lois is survived by her two daughters, Sharon Nixon of Council Bluffs and Barbara Orton and her husband, Dan also of Council Bluffs; her grandchildren, Steve Nixon and his wife, Jenny and puppy Sami of Council Bluffs, Kevin Nixon and his wife, Stephanie of Orem, Utah, Wendy Wise and Jody Moore both of Council Bluffs. She has seven great grandchildren, Kyler (wife, Brittany), Dalton, Bailey, Treyton and Sadie Nixon, and Cody and Joey Wise. She leaves a host of nieces and nephews as well.
Visitation with the family will be Friday 6:00pm to 8:00pm at the Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held Saturday, 10:00am also at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery.
