Lucas Andrew Cerveny, age 39, passed away at CHI Health Bergan Mercy on February 15, 2024.
He was born April 13, 1984, to Gilbert and Sandra (Godsey) Cerveny in Des Moines, IA. Luke graduated from Indianola Iowa High School with the class of 2002 and then earned a Bachelor's Degree from Simpson College. He was currently working as a dispatcher for MedAire.
Luke spent most of his adult life working with in Youth Services. He was really gifted at it. He loved to spend time with family and lots of friends. His favorite activity was watching his nieces and nephews participate in activities. Luke was insistent that his friends watch the different activities that were streamed.
In High School, he played football and basketball. His catch won the football game against Sioux City Heelan and his Junior year his team won the Iowa State Basketball Championship in 2001.
Luke has been a joy to his family and we will miss him forever.
Luke was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Lucas is survived by his parents, Gil and Sandy Cerveny; brothers, Jason (Cherie) Cerveny, Tyler (Leanna) Cerveny, Ryan (Karen) Cerveny, and Joshua Cerveny; nieces, Tegan Cerveny, Lyla Cerveny, and Cameron Cerveny; nephews, Alex Cerveny, Braden Cerveny, Carson Cerveny, Grant Cerveny, Daniel Cerveny, Keegan Cerveny, and Tyce Cerveny; siblings by choice, Kade Kovar, Charles Kaup, Kyle Torczon, Joe Stillman, Jonathan Crossley, Clint Dale, and Kasey Burn; a host of other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 21, 2024.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM at Saint John Lutheran Church on Thursday, February 22, 2024. The family will direct memorials.
