Marc Loyd Hipsher was born in Omaha on Dec 5, 1975. His parents are Dean and Ruth Hipsher and his brother (7 years older) is Craig Hipsher. Dean and Ruth were divorced when Marc was in first grade and he continued to live with Dean and Craig on North 55th St. With Dean working long hours, Marc and Craig were together alone way more than they should have been allowed! They had Spaghetti-O's, Mac-N-Cheese or cold cereal for dinner almost every night. There were furious tackle football battles in the living room. The "Toilet-Water-Incident" happened (ask Craig). Finally, Marc learned what it was like to be hammered repeatedly with the pillow of Thor. A couple years later Dean married Joan Brown and everyone moved to her house on North 53rd St. Joan has a son Mark Brown who lived there too and that was the start of Big Mark and Little Marc. Little Marc had just gained another older brother to aid Craig in torturing him in ways only brothers can. (A few years later when Little Marc was bigger and stronger than both Craig and Big Mark, he never sought revenge because that was not in his nature. We would have deserved it!) Shortly after that Marc left to live with his mom Ruth. They lived in rural areas in Nebraska and Louisiana where he was an excellent baseball player and junior bowler. In fact he was a District Champion in bowling and went to the State Tournament in North Platte NE. Marc and Ruth came back to Omaha a few years later after some rough times in Louisiana. He bore burdens nobody should have to at that age and took care of mom when it seemed like nobody else would. Ruth's mother-in-law had told him that they had always hated him and his mom and they were glad to see them leave. Even though he actually liked his life in Louisiana, when mom wanted to turn around half-way and go back, he convinced her to keep going and never told her why until much later. He proved in spades what a fine young man he had become. They moved back to the same old block of North 55th St. in Omaha. Marc reconnected with friends he had known most of his life (Mike and Joe Parks, Melissa and Jenny Thomas, Jason Walker, David and Danny Case among others). He graduated from Omaha North High School in 1994 where he continued to enjoy bowling. He was awarded a Metropolitan Sports Foundation Scholarship and several others from his bowling efforts. His father, Dean, passed away in 2006. Marc took his death very hard. Deans ashes were spread in several places in the Broken Bow area of central Nebraska. He took great comfort in regular trips to those areas. 2006 was also the year he discovered Geocaching. He drove thousands and thousands of miles in pursuit of this hobby. Almost anyone in Omaha who has hidden a cache to be found has the name "MrClean_" in their logbook. One weekend Marc and Craig drove over 2000 miles to find geocaches in 11 different states. The so-called "Iron Butt" trip lives in infamy to this day. Marc always enjoyed jumping out of the car first to beat his caching partners to the find. He was proud to have 2514 finds to his credit. That ranks him 78th in Nebraska, 8029th in the United States and 25,686th in the world! He was also a very enthusiastic member of the Dart community. He played countless matches, countless tournaments and made a countless number of friends. He won a lot and probably lost a little more but was always proud that he could give anyone a game. It's hard to name everyone but he played a lot of games with his best buddy, Eric Ruckman. He and Eric also share a fantasy football team. The official name is Sasquatch and the Tree people, but the league mostly called him Sasquatch. One of Marc's last activities was paying his league fees to avoid a last-minute penalty. He managed to talk Craig out of the $20 he needed and greatly enjoyed his victory! Marc worked at several places after high school. They include: Glass Contractors, Kryger Glass, Priority Express, BeavEx Courier and Town Delivery Inc. Marc met Erin Stewart through mutual friends. They dated for a while and have been living together for about 2 years. On Feb 16, 2013 she gave birth to their son, Benjamin Loyd Hipsher. Ben meant everything in the world to Marc and he never stopped showing it. After a small learning curve Marc proved to be a natural Dad. It was fun to behold! Marc passed away with those he loved most in the world right by his side on October 1, 2014. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. He is preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Dean Hipsher. Marc is survived by his son, Benjamin Hipsher; girlfriend and Benjamins mother, Erin Stewart; mother, Ruth Monahan (Patrick); brother, Craig Hipsher (Erika); step-mother, Joan Hipsher; step-brother, Mark Brown (Amy); a host of other family and friends. Viewing and visitation will be Sunday 2-4PM at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. The family will direct memorials.
