Marvin E. Trotter, age 85, passed away January 28, 2014. He was born in Coleridge, Nebraska on November 1, 1928 to the late William & Hazel (Fairchild) Trotter. Marvin Trotter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and good friend to many. He was an honest, hardworking, gentle man who will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. Marvin married Fannie Wallick in 1951 and the couple raised three children. Fannie passed in 1997. In 1999, Marvin again found love and spent 15 years with long-time companion Evelyn Dimon. A welder by trade, Marvin was a dedicated family-man. He loved teaching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He taught his children how to fix things, change their own tires and oil, and the value of a dollar. He often took them hunting, fishing, and camping. Most summer vacations were spent at a cabin in Minnesota, where the family fished. During hunting season, you could often find him hunting with his family and beloved beagle Penny. There was a special place in Marvins heart for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He loved them and loved to hear them laugh. He loved to tickle and many were recipients of whisker-rubs. Marvin enjoyed spending time with his siblings, often fishing with his brothers or simply meeting with his brothers and sisters for lunch. Ice cream was never in short supply at home. Marvin loved ice cream, especially ice cream bars and home-made vanilla. All of the kids had their turn sitting on the ice cream maker to hold it down while he cranked. Marvin served his country honorably from 1945 1947 in the United States Navy. While on active duty, he sailed to many destinations, including China.
