Mary Jane Wetzel

Mary Jane Ebert Wetzel, daughter of Donald and Marilyn (Cunningham) Ebert, was born on November 25, 1963 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She grew up in Underwood, Iowa until 1978 when the family moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa and graduated in 1982 from Saint Albert High School. Mary was the second youngest of 2 boys and 5 girls.

She completed schooling at Stewart’s Cosmetology, class of 1983, where she then worked at Haircrafters on 108th & Q in Omaha. In 1994 she started at Methodist Hospital and enjoyed working there until 2005 when she left and went to Lincoln Financial Group.

Mary held a passion for children, animals, and helping others. Her children and grandchildren have many fond memories of their time spent with Mary. Because of Mary’s kind soul and warm heart, she had many friends during her lifetime.

Mary is survived by her father, Donald Ebert, her children Cassandra Wetzel and fiancée Allen Bennett, Dylan Wetzel and fiancé Sarah Moore, and Maranda Melton, Grandchildren, Bently, Brendon, and Chloe, brothers John (Melody) Ebert, Jeffrey (Theresa) Ebert, sisters Linda (Keith) Adams, Debbie Carpenter, Julie (Paul) Pitts. Mary also leaves behind 11 nieces and nephews, 18 great nieces and nephews, other family members, and many friends.

Mary entered into rest on Friday, June 21st surrounded by those she loved the most. She was 55 years of age and was preceded in death by her mother Marilyn (Cunningham) Ebert, sister Janelle Ebert, and brother-in-law Mark Carpenter.

Visitation on Sunday from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home in the community room.
