Mary L. Gillett

Mary L. Gillett, age 74, of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away October 17, 2013. She was born in Fairbury, Nebraska on March 8, 1939 to the late Frank & Vernal Townsend. Mary worked for many years at Sutherland Lumber Company, G&G Manufacturing and then retired from the Council Bluffs School System. Mary enjoyed working in her yard with all of the flowers. She fed many birds and especially liked watching the hummingbirds. On most Saturdays she went to garage sales and did other shopping. She and the other girls of the family went on many get-a-way trips. Mary loved long motorcycle rides with her husband, Ron and their winter trips to their home in Texas and they even made time to go into Mexico while there. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Townsend; sister, Erma Mocha. Mary is survived by her husband, Ronald Gillett; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie & Larry Larson; sons, Ronnie Gillett and Phil Gillett; sister, Lillian Hamor; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In keeping with Marys wishes, there will be no viewing or visitation. A private graveside service will be held on Monday in the Hazel Dell Cemetery. Please join the family for a reception in her honor on Monday at 3PM in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski.
