Mary Ann Wege

Mary Ann Wege, age 93, passed away peacefully at Risen Son Christian Village on December 22, 2023.

She was born August 31, 1930, to the late Jacob and Marie (Beitz) Schaffer in Norfolk, NE. Mary Ann was a member of Saint Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Bob and Mary Ann were married July 25, 1948 in Norfolk, NE and had celebrated 75 years of marriage, this past July.  Mary Ann was a homemaker for many years. She loved baking, cooking and tending to her flowers. Family favorites, included pies, cinnamon rolls, bread, and german dishes. Mary Ann spent many hours volunteering in the Jennie Edmundson Gift Shop and for Dr. Ron Miller. She also sold cosmetics and fine jewelry for Brandeis, Younkers, and Brodkeys. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards with her Bridge Club. Together, Bob and Mary Ann enjoyed traveling and cruising with family and friends.

The past few years as her health declined, her church family at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, her husband Bob, and her family and friends were of great comfort to her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ronald Wege; son-in-law, Howard Holland; siblings, Donald Schaffer, Edna Benck, Loraine Sessin, and Robert Schaffer.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 75 years, Robert Wege; children, Bill (Joan VonTersch-Wege) Wege and Cheryl Holland; brother, Kenneth (Doris) Schaffer; grandchildren, Karla (Ralph) Holland-Loubeau and Jenna (Steve) Hurst; great grandchildren, Chloe Loubeau, Emmie Loubeau, Ruby Hurst, and Eli Hurst; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Saint Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church - 239 Frank Street in Council Bluffs. Interment is in Ridgewood Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Saint Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church.
