Melinda Helbling

Melinda Lou Helbling, age 41, passed away at her home on April 18, 2025.

She was born February 22, 1984 to David and Kimberly (Mortensen) Helbling in Council Bluffs, IA.

As a child, Mindy was a blonde-haired, blue-eyed, freckle-faced spark—just like her daughter Emilia. She lived in Council Bluffs her whole life and brought her vibrant energy wherever she went. From a young age, she chased adventure with a wild spirit that often got her into trouble, but always with a smile. She was dangerous, funny, and fun—and that never changed. She loved to sing, dance, and laugh. She adored her daughters, loved her family more than anything, and found peace in nature. Mindy was passionate about her work and cared deeply for her coworkers, who became like a second family. She hated wearing shoes, was unapologetically herself, and never judged anyone. Mindy lived loud, loved hard, and left a mark that will never fade.

Melinda was preceded in death by her father, David Helbling Jr.; infant twin sons, Jackson Helbling and Jaden Helbling.

Melinda is survived by her mother, Kimberly Carlin; children, Alexis Helbling, Emilia Helbling, and Ella Helbling; siblings, Melissa (Sara Siebler) Anderson, Rachelle (Bobby IV) Edwards, Kaylee (Mike) Stanek, Levi (Jenny) Helbling, and Kara (Daniel) Duysen; grandmothers, Paula Houser and Elizabeth Weinstein; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; a host of other family and many friends.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Saturday, April 26, 2025. The family will direct memorials.
