Michael K. Olesen

Michael K. Olesen, age 73, of Council Bluffs passed away at his home on August 16, 2014. He was born in Council Bluffs on May 18, 1941 to the late Michael K. and Virginia (Hanna) Olesen. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the class of 1959. He retired from the Union Pacific Rail Road in 2004 and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Conductors. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Mark Olesen; infant brother, Edward Arnold Olesen. Michael is survived by his wife, Lynda (Brownfield) Olesen; son and daughter-in-law, Michael & Judy Olesen; daughters and sons-in-law, Lora & Bob Hildreth and Lisa & Jerry Cundiff; step-daughter, Sheri Fricke; brother, Steven Olesen; sister and brother-in-law, Kristie & Ed Dustrup; granddaughter's Alicia (Chris) Kreikemeier, Ashley Fricke & Hannah Hildreth, grandson's Brandon Fricke, Andrew Stevens, Garrett Cundiff, Korbin Cundiff & Braydon Cundiff. great grandson's Landyn & Grayson Kreikemeier, great granddaughter Gabriella Phippen; and a host of other family and friends. Visitation will be Wednesday from 3:00-4:00 p.m. with a funeral service to begin at 4:00 p.m. at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. A meal will follow the service in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church.
