Michelle Fowler

Michelle Kay Fowler (Henkel) passed away unexpectedly at the age of 50 on June 12, 2024 at her residence in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

Michelle was born on February 5, 1974 in Denison, Iowa to Glen & Gael Henkel (Shives). She was the oldest of two girls.

Michelle attended a number of schools during her primary years, graduating from North High School, Sioux City, Iowa. Class of 1992.

She furthered her education by attending Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs Iowa, earning an associate degree.

In 1995 Michelle reconnected with Steve Fowler, to whom she was married for 25 years, and at which time she was introduced to Brandan & Tyler Fowler Steve's sons. It was a package deal!! Michelle embraced the role of motherhood & was very involved in every aspect of their lives.

Brandan & Tyler were the highlight of her life & she was so proud to be their Mom.

Michelle worked at H&R Block for over 20 years. She also dabbled in real estate & mortgage titling during those years.

Michelle's favorite get away was heading to Okoboji where you could find her enjoying lakeside beverages & making memories.

When she wasn't sitting lakeside she spent her time scrapbooking or crafting. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends & absolutely adored her grandchildren.

Michelle is survived by her two sons, Brandan Fowler (wife Margaret) and their son, Landan of Council Bluffs and Tyler Fowler (wife Jada) and their daughter, Addalyn of Lincoln, NE; her stepmom, Becky Henkel; sister, Raquel Davis & Michelle's special friend Mario Reuwsaat all of Council Bluffs; stepbrothers, Daniel Krauel, David (wife Emily) Krauel and Randy Bounyeng Carstensen and their children; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

Services will be held on Monday June 17, 2024 at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home 1221 N 16th Street in Council Bluffs. Visitation is from 9:00-10:00AM with the service immediately after. Burial at Ridgewood Cemetery. Follow in the procession.
