Michelle "Shelly" R. Kuhns was called home to heaven at the age of 35 on January 2nd, 2025 after succumbing to Tay-Sachs Disease. Shelly was born on 04/19/1989 in Fontana, CA. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of 7 and was baptized at Immanuel Baptist Church in Highland, CA. Her love for the Lord never wavered through all that was thrown at her in life. Shelly could always see a silver lining in every situation and did so with a radiant smile on her face. We like to say she spread a little glitter wherever she went. She was a prayer warrior too, offering to pray for anyone in need.
Shelly was diagnosed with Tay-Sachs as a teenager. Her faith remained strong despite the struggles brought on by this awful disease. She never questioned God as to why this lot was given to her. Shelly was blessed to live at Quality Living Incorporated (QLI) from Nov. 2010 through Oct. 2021. She loved the staff and enjoyed the residents immensely. But, during that time Covid hit the area and required about 18 months of isolation to keep the residents of QLI safe. The isolation along with the progression of her disease gave her the desire to move home. So, in October 2021 she moved to South Sioux City, NE to live with her mom, Janice, and stepdad, Doug where she continued to enjoy life to the fullest till God called her home.
Shelly is survived by her mom, Janice (Wiese) and stepdad Doug Harrison, father Charles "Chuck" Jr and Lisa (Sorensen) Kuhns, brothers: David Kuhns, Charles (Meghan) Kuhns, III, Alex (Britt) Kuhns, Joey (Beth) Raper, and Daniel (Miranda) Harrison; sisters Makayla (Antonio) Lopez, McKenzie Harrison, and Sarah Koitek, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins throughout the Unted States whom she loved dearly.
Shelly was preceded in death by her grandparents, Virgil and Elaine Wiese, Charles, Sr and Lee Kuhns, and Wilma Kuhns, aunts Jane Ann Riskowski, and Tracey (Kuhns) Harrison, uncle Gary Kuhns, and cousin Joey Horvat.
