Nan Christine Sampson (Walters)

August 20, 1949 - May 7, 2024

Nan Christine Sampson, a benevolent soul of grace and strength, peacefully departed this world at the age of seventy four. After bravely battling multiple myeloma for several years. Nan was born on August 20, 1949 in Southern California to the anxiously awaiting embrace of Jim and Elise. Nan graduated from Taft High School in Woodland Hills, California.

Throughout her life, Nan explored various career paths none of which brought her greater joy than her tenure with Bank of America. Beginning as a teller, Nan's hard work and dedication propelled her to become a new accounts specialist. While focusing on her professional achievements, Nan encountered her future husband, Robert Sampson. They exchanged vows in August of 1974 and in April of 1977 they welcomed their daughter, Shawn into the world.

Nan possessed a natural talent for gardening, and a deep passion for nurturing plants. With her green thumb, she tended to award-winning roses, often with her daughter Shawn who grew roses alongside her eagerly awaiting each beautiful bloom.

Transitioning her career path, Nan found purpose as a lunch aide at a local elementary school, later ascending to the esteemed role of cafeteria manager in Van Nuys, California. Her dedication to nurturing young minds left an undeniable mark on the community.

In her retirement, Nan dreamt of owning a Victorian home, which led her to Grinnell, Iowa. Where she created the ideal background for her beloved grandchildren Tyler and Jacklyn. She also found a new career at Mariposa Farms, her innate greenthumb flourished in this role as she packaged herbs and edible flowers for countless dinner tables across the nation.

In her last years, Nan witnessed profound joy in her loved ones achievements. These achievements were made possible by her selflessness and steady guidance, which filled her with immense pride.

Nan is preceded in death by her parents, Jim Walters and Elise Blume, and her youngest brother Christopher Walters.

She is survived by her daughter, Shawn Barker, grandson Tyler Sendejas, granddaughter Jacklyn Delk, eldest brother Jim Walters (Patricia) niece Kim Walters and nephew Chad Walters.
