Nancy A. Briggs, age 57, passed away February 26, 2014. She was born January 7, 1957 to the late Eugene & Doris (Hamlin) Briggs in Crookston, Minnesota. She and her family moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1964. Nancy felt so blessed to have found Warren and share her life with him. One of her final wishes was to have a commitment ceremony and thankfully, she and Warren were able to share their vows on Valentines Day, just 12 days before she passed away. Nancy took her vocation of being a mom seriously. She wanted to make sure her children had all they needed and gave them an abundance of her love whether that is a hug or an encouraging word. She not only shared her strong faith with her family but with all those she met. She had 3 biological children (Amy, Charity and Justin) but many more that she adored and took under her wing. She had a very caring and tender heart. Mama never said Good Bye and only said God bless, so long for now.. Her hobbies included cooking. She was best known for her fried chicken. Her Thanksgiving meals could have fed an army. She enjoyed working in the garden, (she had not one, BUT 2 green thumbs). She loved writing and was so excited when her poem was published. She also enjoyed doing ceramics and taking pictures. She was very proud to complete her G.E.D. while being a busy mom. She considered it a tremendous blessing when she was able to spend time with her grandchildren. It was amazing that she had the strength and desire to bake cookies with her Amani G just last weekend. Nancy treasured her time in the outdoors. She experienced Gods love in nature. She was a very good sister and never fought with her siblings. She was also a beloved aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She brought a lot of love to her family and friends. So Mama, God bless and so long for now. We will all miss you! In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Kermit, Robert, Elmer, Randy; sisters, Barbara Vance and Carol Haas. Nancy is survived by her husband, Warren Lorey; daughters, Amy Briggs and Charity Wyant (David); son, Justin Woolsoncroft (Stephanie); step-daughters, Tia West (Jonathan), Marlo Evans (Shawn); step-son, Jason Lorey (Sherri); brothers, Duane Briggs and Lester Briggs Sr.; grandchildren, Christian Thomas, Amani Grace, Erick Alan, Kirstin Jemma, Chelsi Ann, Jessica Lorraine, Brad Joseph, Tyler Vincent John. A celebration of her life will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. The family will receive friends during the hour prior to the service. The family will direct memorials.
