Norma Chambers, 85, of Arlington, NE passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016. She was born on April 12, 1931 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Paul Mastin and Margaret “Margie” (Cone) Eslinger. In 1939, she moved to Omaha with her mother and step-father, Wallace Gilbert Wagner.
Norma married John Leon Chambers on January 14, 1983 in Council Bluffs, and lived in Omaha until retiring to Arlington. She was an LPN, and last worked at the Rose Blumkin Jewish Home for 18 years until she retired in 1993.
Norma loved camping, traveling, baking, sewing, handcrafts, and spending time with friends. But it was her children and grand/great-grandchildren that she loved the most.
Norma is survived by her husband of 33 years, John Leon Chambers of Arlington; brother Paul David Eslinger of Virginia, two half-siblings Barbara Eltiste of Fremont, and Wallace “Wally” Wagner, Jr of Texas.
She leaves behind 5 children; Belinda Peirce, Lisa Hodgen, Kevin Pickett, Trent Pickett, and Trevor Pickett; 3 step-children, Kathleen Van Riper, Donna Steppuhn, and LeeAnne Chambers; 30 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughters, Pamela Kay Pickett, Deborah Louise Pickett; stepson, John William Chambers; and granddaughter Mykayah Joelle Hodgen.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 3 at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home, Council Bluffs, IA.
