Oral Vern Tague, age 90 of Council Bluffs, formerly of Spirit Lake, passed away May 1, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones and dog, Midnight.
He was born February 25, 1929 in Detroit, Michigan to Elmer and Effie Tague.
On October 5, 1948 he married Joyce Marie Baker of Spirit Lake. In 1952 Oral and Joyce moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa. He worked in the meat business for several years. In 1967 he entered the nursing home business as an owner and administrator in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. In 1980, they moved to Manilla, Iowa and were semi-retired. Then in 2000 they returned to Spirit Lake. During his life, he enjoyed fishing and travel, boating and camping. In October of 2018 they moved to assisted living in Council Bluffs.
Oral was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers and two sisters.
One of his daughters, Shelley Dunaway of Hiawatha just passed away May 3, 2019.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of 70 and a half years; daughters, Linda (Paul) Geer of Sioux City, Vicki (Duane) Stangl of Manilla, Shirley (Dale) Meiners of Manilla; son-in-law, Mike Dunaway of Hiawatha; 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service is 2:00 p.m. on Saturday May 11, 2019 at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home.
