Philip Dwight Monahan

Philip Dwight Monahan Age 68 of Harlan, Iowa passed away January 22, 2023 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs. He was born on April 17, 1954 in Panama, Iowa to Charles and Marie (Miller) Monahan. He graduated from Harlan High School in 1972. After school he joined the National Guard and married Karen. Together they bought an acreage where he raised Huskies, fixed cars and always had a project that he was working on. Karen and Phil adopted their daughter Amanda, their pride and joy. He worked at Harlan Builders for many years and later he slowed down a little by working at the Shelby County Landfill where he retired but still did some fill in work for them.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Lois, Dorothy, Donna and Marilyn and brother, Michael.

Phil is survived by his daughter, Amanda Pappas (Taylor); sister, Darlene Mongomery (Chuck); brothers, Patrick Monahan (Ruth) and Greg Monahan; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral Service: 1:00 PM Saturday, January 28, 2023 with Visitation 1 hour prior at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home, 1221 N. 16th St. Council Bluffs, IA.

Interment: Lincoln Township Cemetery, Harlan, Iowa
