R. Marilyn Nichols

R. Marilyn Nichols, age 87, of Council Bluffs passed away August 8, 2016 at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital. She was born in Council Bluffs on March 25, 1929 to the late Henry O. and Elsie M. (Jacquot) Nelson. Marilyn was a member of First Christian Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lori Nichols; son, Michael Nichols and sisters, Catherine Doyle and Carol Carpenter. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 70 years, Cecil Nichols; children, Linda Messerli and her husband Mike, Cecil Nichols Jr. and his wife Joyce, Diane Whannell and her husband Donald; sister, Barbara Middleton and her husband Evan; 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; a host of other family and friends. Memorial service is 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Visitation will be during the hour prior to the service. A reception will follow in the community room at Hoy-Kilnoski. Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church.
