Richard Allen Milner

December 14, 1946 — March 2, 2016

In the morning hours of March 2nd, 2016, Richard Allen Milner, Jr., passed away. Born December 14, 1946 to Richard and Rosalie (Nahach) Milner, who preceded him in 2005 following a car accident. He loved hunting and fishing his entire life. The Hawkeyes were his favorite team(s). While at Longfellow School, he painted a water mill that hung for many years in the Longfellow School Library. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in 1966 then served in the Army for four years in the Artillery, 82nd Airborne, doing a tour in Germany and Vietnam. He escorted the body of his cousin, Michael Milner from Vietnam to home. Richard received the Military Merit and the Bronze Star. His final career was a finish carpenter for Kiewit, to which he had many friends. He married his high school sweetheart, Rita Kutchara, May 8th 1968. They stayed married through the good times and the hard times, never separating. To this union they were blessed with two daughters, Michelle Rae, born in 1970 and Kimberly Ann in 1971. He was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Robert Pappas and Gene Mann. Richard is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rita Milner. Daughters Michelle Bennett (Steve) and Kimberly Milner. Granddaughter Cassandra Milner and Ross Plum, Great Grandchildren Grascie and Ross Plum, who called him grandpa. Grandson Chanh Milner. The cat Spud, a.k.a. the Nipper. Sisters Debra Clevenger (Darrell) and Margaret Pappas. Brother Jon Milner. Mother-in-law Annabelle Lee Claussen and Floyd. Brother-in-laws John Sellers (Lynn), Carl Kutchara and Kelly Harris-Wilson, Floyd Claussen. Sister-in-laws Kathy Mann and Bobby Kilbane, Judy Bauerly (Donn), Lisa Matthew (Dan), Suzanne Boritzki (Jerry). His cousins Albert Milner and Jack Milner, as well as nieces and nephews galore. His long time friends Richard Thomas, Danny Rhoads, Duane Bushman, Burl Vinton, Steve Vinton, Dave Costello and Bob Ramm. Neighbors Bruce and Peggy Hansen, Robbie Franks, and Bob Buy. Forgive me if I have forgotten to mention you. Per his wishes there will be no funeral. His body has been cremated Richard has chosen his final resting place. You may stop by The Hoy Funeral Home to visit with family and friends - Saturday March 12th from 3-5 p.m. located at 1221 North 16th Street. Council Bluffs.
