Richard Dale Wheeler, age 71, of McClelland, IA. passed away January 14, 2019. He was born on December 1, 1947 in Red Oak, Iowa. He later moved to Omaha where he graduated from Tech High School.
On Dec.12 1969 Richard joined the Army and was in the 101st Airborne Division where he fought during the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged on December 1, 1975. During his time in the Army he also spent time in Germany.
After the Army Richard Lived in Omaha for many years where he held a couple different jobs as an adult, He spent many years with the Thomas Carnival, He was a night security guard for Carter Lake Auto and during the day he was a truck mechanic For Combined Truck Repair. Richard lived in Carter Lake Ia for several years before moving to Underwood Ia then finally he moved to McClelland Ia where he lived until his passing on January 14.2019.
In February of 1970 he married Mary Shewey, and they had three children.
He is survived by his children, Richard Wheeler, Sally Chancellor and Margaret Reynolds; grandchildren; great grandchildren; many other family and friends.
Graveside service Wednesday 9:00 a.m. at the Omaha National Cemetery.
