Richard “Dick” D. Gilson, age 100, passed away December 5, 2017, at Midlands Living Center in Council Bluffs. He was born April 20, 1917, in Glenwood, Iowa, to the late Orvey and Rosa (Rotter) Gilson.
Dick graduated from Glenwood High School in 1936. He retired as a flooring contractor. He was a longtime member of Audebon Society and the Council Bluffs Fish and Game Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; brothers, Edward, Oliver and Gene; and sisters, Rose and May.
He is survived by sons, Dwell (Mary), of Council Bluffs and Dwight (Paddy), of Allyn, Wash.; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Memorial service, Saturday, 2 p.m., with visitation the hour prior, all at Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home. Private burial in Ridgewood Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Council Bluffs Fish and Game Club or Children’s Square.
