Robert A. "Buck" Towers

Robert A. Buck Towers Sr., age 79, passed away August 4, 2015 at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital. He was born June 7, 1936 in Federalsburg, Maryland to the late Milton and Mabel (Whiby) Towers. He graduated from Federalsburg High and then was drafted into the United States Army. He served for two years and then voluntarily served an additional one year. He was in the Corps of Engineers and the infantry. 18 months of his service were on the ground in Korea. Upon his return he elected to travel which landed him in Omaha, Nebraska where he met and married Reva Coontz. Buck retired from Blue Star/ConAgra as an operations manager. He was also a member of the Maryland Jaycees:, the Eagles Club Erie 104, AMVETS Post 152 and was their financial officer for several years. Buck was a life member of VFW Post 737 where he served as the post commander from 2004-2005. He was a longtime member of Broadway United Methodist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Reva Towers and grandson, Joshua Malcolm. Buck is survived by his children, Stanley Malcolm (Vanessa), Steven Malcolm (Nancy), Roberta "Bertie" Plutschak (Mark), Rene Lunsford, Robert Towers, Jr. (Tangee); brothers, William Towers, Philip Towers (Beth), Kenneth Towers; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Visitation is 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home. Funeral service is 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Interment is in the Garner Township Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Broadway United Methodist Church.
