Robert Joseph Wicks passed away on September 24, 2022.
He was born June 8, 1951 to Delmar and Maxine Wicks. He was raised in a loving family with seven siblings in Beloit, Kansas. He graduated from St. John's Catholic high school and attended Kansas State University. He started working at a young age delivering newspapers for his father who was the co-owner and publisher of the Beloit Daily Call. Bob married Deanne Bates on August 5, 1973. A major joy to Bob was his two sons, Tyson and Kale. Bob's career included being a co-owner and publisher of the Deshler Rustler newspaper in Deshler, Nebraska. In 1987, the family moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa where Bob continued his career in printing. Bob greatly enjoyed sports with Kansas State Football as a priority. He was an extremely talented artist, and a self-proclaimed Comedian. However, Bob's biggest joy was being a father and grandfather.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Delmar Wicks; and a brother, James Wicks.
He is survived by his sons, Tyson (Kristin) Wicks, of Council Bluffs, IA, and Kale (Brandy) Wicks, of Treynor, IA; ex-wife, Dee Wicks, of Council Bluffs, IA; grandchildren, Morghan and Brogen Bemmen, of Council Bluffs, IA; Kansas, Kendric and Beckham Wicks, of Treynor, IA; mother, Maxine Wicks, of Bennet, NE; siblings, Steve, Mike, and Tom, of Bennet, NE; Pat (Jeanne), of Lincoln, NE; Mary Strnad, of Hanover, KS and Judy (Mike) Steckelberg, of Sioux Falls, S.D.
A celebration of life will be held Sunday, October 9, 2022, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., at the American Legion, 970 Monroe Street, Bennet, NE 68317.
