Robert Juon

Robert Merlan Juon was born on December 5, 1947, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Merlan and Ivadell (Helland) Juon. He grew up on a farm in Alleman, Iowa, with his sisters, Donna Steiner and Kris (Brian) Swanson. Robert graduated from North Polk High School in 1966. After high school graduation, he attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he met his wife, Sally (Clark) Juon. Robert graduated in 1971 from UNI with a degree in Distributive Education. In January 1971 he enlisted in the United States Army, serving a year in Germany at a base near the Holland border. Upon his discharge in 1973, Rob and Sally returned to Council Bluffs. He worked for Famous Footwear from 1973 until 1988, during which time he was relocated to the Chicago area for 7 years. After his return to Council Bluffs in 1989, he worked for Nebraska Furniture Mart in Omaha until his retirement in 2015. Robert and Sally were blessed with three children, Kevin (Michelle) Juon, Brandon Juon, and Dawn Juon. They have three grandsons, Grant Juon, Bryce Juon, and Cael Juon, who have given them so much joy. Robert loved to play golf, travel to new places, ride his Can-Am, and spend time with family, extended family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion and very active in St. John's United Church of Christ. When Robert was able, he also volunteered serving lunches at New Visions.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Merlan and Ivadell Juon, and his niece, Rebecca Rankin.

He is survived by many cousins and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Thursday, September 19, 2024.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 AM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Memorials are recommended to St. John's United Church of Christ and New Visions in Council Bluffs.
