Rocky Kerkman

Rocky Wade Kerkman, age 61 of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away August 11, 2023. He was born in Vinton, Iowa on August 25, 1961 to Robert and Mary (Jessop) Kerkman. He attended Hudson High School and graduated in 1979. His passion for sports truly started while attending Hudson. He competed as a state football champion and was a competitive wrestler. After high school Rocky enlisted in the United States Marine Corp reserves from 1979 To 1990 where he achieved the rank of Sergeant proudly serving his country.

Rocky eventually settled in Council Bluffs, Iowa where used his training in the Corp to become a police officer. Later he became a truck driver for several companies. Rocky was always passionate about football, baseball, and his pets.

Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Royals and Iowa State Cyclones were among his favorite teams.

He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Weitzell (Jacob); son, Ben Sorensen (Beth Bellinger); grandchildren, Jamisen and Jaxsen Weitzell; brother, Rod Kerkman (Stacy); nephews, Nicolas, Nate and Adam Kerkman and his beloved dog Bubbles.

Rocky was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Rosemary.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday August 19th at 229 East Graham Ave in Council Bluffs starting at 3pm. Food and refreshments will be provided.
