Ronald L. Winner

Ronald L. Winner, age 83, passed away at his home in Underwood, Iowa on July 13, 2019.

He was born in Delta, Iowa on October 6, 1935 to the late Ralph and Ruth (Phillips) Winner. He joined the United States Army at age 18 and proudly served from 1954 to 1958. He married Lois Faye Jackson on January 24, 1959. They were blessed with three children. In 1965, they moved to the family farm in Underwood, where he and Lois have now lived for 54 years. He worked for Burlington Railroad, then the U.S. Postal Service until 1974. He then farmed for the remainder of his life. Each year he enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota with his family, and later built his own pond on his farm in Woodbine. He also collected many tractors over the years, showing them at tractor shows and parades. He was a long time exhibitor at Carsten Farm Days. His greatest loves in life were his family, fishing, hunting, collecting and working on tractors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Winner; and brothers, Glen and Robert Winner.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois; daughter, Lea Ann Schnack (Jim); sons, Mark Winner (Barb), Tim Winner (Kim); six grandchildren, Josh (Jen), Claire (Trevor), Evan, John, MaKayla, Cassie; two great grandchildren, Kaleb and Lydia; brother, Steve Winner; sisters, Margaret Barnard, Linda Hutchison; and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral service is Friday, 11:00 a.m., at the Hoy-Kilnoski Funeral Home with a visitation during the hour prior to the service. Interment is in the Hazel Dell Cemetery.
