Rubina “Ruby” Laurence Norville (nee Murray), 85, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Sept 29, 2017.
Ruby was born on Feb 29, 1932 in Chicago IL, to Scottish parents Andrew & Louisa Murray, and raised on Chicago’s south side.
Ruby graduated from Lindblom High School in Chicago in 1949. For 50 years Ruby lived in St. Charles, Batavia and West Chicago, IL, devoting herself to her family, homemaking and work, which included, Social Work at Fox Hill Home for Girls and Liquid Container in West Chicago. Ruby retired from Liquid Container after working there for many years and spent her last years living with family in Council Bluffs, IA. Throughout her life Ruby loved playing piano, singing, playing tennis, playing bridge, cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, laughing and spending time with her family and friends.
Ruby was a devoted member of Faith Lutheran Church in Geneva, IL for many years and Fellowship of Faith in Oakland, IA for the last 15 years. She contained a resilience and strength that allowed her to overcome many challenges throughout her life and she always emphasized to others that her strength came from the Lord. Her devotion to God and her family was unwavering.
Ruby is survived by her sons Matthew (Felicia), John (Cheri), Peter (Kristin) and her daughter Jane Cook (Steve). She greatly loved and always prayed for… her 17 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters and 1 great grandson.
She is preceded in death by her loving sister Louise Graham and her ex-husband James Norville.
She dearly loved and was loved by her nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She was a devoted and loving confidant to her many friends in both Illinois and Iowa.
A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held on Sat, Nov 25, at 11 am at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home, with a luncheon immediately following.
