Ruth Nelson

Ruth A. Nelson, of Council Bluffs, IA passed away on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Lakeside Hospital.

Ruth was born on March 9, 1940 in Norfolk, NE to the late Harry and Marian Werner...and a sibling to Kenneth (Elaine) Werner of Norfolk, NE.

Ruth was born to be a nurse - whether she was taking care of her brother, her children and husband, her patients or her friends - she was a true nurturer with a heart of kindness.

Ruth was an avid Husker fan, never met a sunflower that she did not like, and cherished time with her family.

Survived by her husband of 63 years Jim B Nelson; daughter Angela (Russ) Higgins of Westminster, CO; son Jim (Joy) Nelson of Groveport, OH; daughter Jane (Leon) Altman of Grimes, IA; daughter Rachel (Mark) Duncan of Leesburg, OH; granddaughters Ashley, Stephanie, Jamie, Jaz, Shaleigh, and Emma, and grandsons Jake, JD, and AJ. Ruth will also be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, family, friends, and her 2 great-grandsons Paul and Easton.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. All memorial contributions should be sent to the Council Bluffs Public Library with care to the Large Print section.
